Leading with Purpose: Chadi Gedeon on Hospitality, Resilience, and the Human Connection
1. For our international audience, how would you like to introduce yourself as Chadi Gedeon—a hotelier and leader—beyond titles, roles, and accolades?
I see myself first and foremost as a people person. Hospitality, at its core, is about creating meaningful human connections and memorable moments. Beyond any title, I am someone who believes in service with purpose, in leading with empathy, and in constantly learning. My role is to inspire teams, elevate experiences, and ensure that every guest feels genuinely welcomed and valued.
2. Leadership is often defined in moments of uncertainty rather than success. Looking back, which experience most shaped you into the leader you are today?
Working in challenging and fast-changing environments has shaped me the most. Leading teams through periods of economic, operational, and social uncertainty taught me that transparency, consistency, and calm decision-making are essential. These moments reinforced my belief that strong leadership is not about having all the answers, but about creating stability and confidence for others.
3. How do you personally ensure the balance between international excellence and authentic local identity?
International standards provide structure and consistency, while local identity gives a hotel its soul. I encourage teams to embrace both: delivering the excellence expected from Accor while celebrating Lebanese culture, flavors, warmth, and traditions. This balance allows us to offer a globally refined experience that still feels deeply rooted in Beirut.
4. What is your philosophy when it comes to building teams and nurturing future leaders?
I believe in empowering people through trust, mentorship, and continuous development. When team members feel heard, supported, and challenged, they grow naturally into leaders. My role is to create an environment where learning is encouraged, mistakes become lessons, and potential is recognized early.
5. In a world where true luxury lies in experience rather than formality, what do you believe guests carry with them after their stay?
Guests remember how we made them feel. Beyond facilities and amenities, they carry moments of care, comfort, and authenticity. A warm smile, a thoughtful gesture, and a seamless experience leave a lasting emotional connection that defines true luxury.
6. How do you align commercial success, brand integrity, and genuine hospitality under one vision?
These elements are not separate; they strengthen each other. When we protect the brand’s values and deliver sincere hospitality, commercial success naturally follows. I focus on sustainable growth built on quality, consistency, and guest satisfaction rather than short-term gains.
7. What new initiatives or strategic developments are shaping the hotel’s direction?
We are strengthening our position as a vibrant urban resort and lifestyle destination through continuous enhancement of our culinary concepts, wellness offerings, and experiential programming, alongside strategic investments in digital transformation and sustainability. Our focus is on creating a dynamic environment that appeals equally to business travelers, leisure guests, and the local community, while consistently elevating the overall guest journey.
8. What must today’s hotels rethink or unlearn to remain relevant?
Hotels must move beyond rigid traditions and become more flexible, personalized, and experience-driven. Today’s guests seek authenticity, purpose, and emotional connection. Adapting quickly, listening closely, and embracing innovation are no longer optional—they are essential.
9. How has leading in Beirut refined your leadership approach?
Beirut teaches resilience, creativity, and adaptability. Leading here requires a deeper understanding of people and a strong emotional intelligence. It has strengthened my ability to remain calm under pressure and to find opportunities even in challenging circumstances.
10. How do you maintain clarity, confidence, and optimism?
By staying grounded in purpose and surrounding myself with strong, passionate people. Optimism is a choice I make daily, supported by preparation, communication, and belief in our collective ability to overcome obstacles.
11. Is there a quote that reflects your leadership philosophy today?
“Take care of your people, and they will take care of your guests.”
This resonates with me because everything starts with the team. When people feel valued and supported, excellence follows naturally.
